You may not have noticed, but search giant Google loves India. Google’s new social network Google+ is offering an exclusive feature to Indian users. Indian users of Google+ can directly update Google+ via text message, and can get Google+ notifications on their cell phone as well.
I was surprised to see Google+ enabling SMS updates feature for Indian users in its early field trial stage. More surprisingly, Google has enabled this feature only in US and India. Google has shown love to Indian users, now it’s your turn to show your love to Google+.
How do I post to Google+ using SMS?
Well, if you are in India then to update Google+ through text messages, you need to add your phone number inGoogle+ settings. After adding your phone number, Google will send you verification code in your phone. Then confirm your settings by adding verification code. You can also add SMS security PIN in your settings for additional security. Now you can post updates to Google+ via SMS.For Google+ updates you can send text to +91-9222222222 but, by default your SMS posts are shared with everyone in your circles. If you don’t want to share your updates with everyone then you can simply mention respective circle’s name in your text messages.
For example; to share your updates with a specific circle such as ‘Friends’, you can simply write @Friends ‘+text message’. i.e. @Friends hey friends!lets go for a movie. Likewise for public updates write @public ‘+text message’, for extended circle write @extended ‘+text message‘, and for specific friend write @emailaddress ‘+text message’and send it to +91-9222222222.
Furthermore, you can also get Google+ notifications on your phone. To enable Google+ notifications on your phone, simply check boxes on your Google+ settings page.
